20th Century Fox World

20th Century Fox World was a planned themed entertainment park in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, based on film and television properties owned by 20th Century Fox. The park was announced in November 2015 as a joint venture between 20th Century Fox and Al Ahli Holding Group, with an estimated investment of $850 million.

It was designed to be an immersive entertainment destination featuring themed lands and attractions inspired by popular franchises such as Ice Age, Planet of the Apes, The Simpsons, Alien, Predator, and Night at the Museum. The planned park was envisioned to include a mix of dark rides, thrill rides, themed retail outlets, and dining experiences reflecting the diverse Fox media portfolio.

Scheduled initially to open in 2018, the project never advanced beyond the development phase. In April 2018, Al Ahli Holding Group announced that the project was put on indefinite hold due to concerns about an oversupply of theme parks in Dubai and the regional market's saturation.

Despite marketing and design efforts that included concepts for themed zones such as Futurama and a Book of Life land, construction was never completed, and the park was effectively canceled. The licensing deal between Fox (later Disney, after acquiring 21st Century Fox) and Al Ahli Holding Group had allowed for up to four Fox-branded parks globally, but none came to fruition beyond this Dubai project.

20th Century Fox World, Dubai remains a notable example of ambitious entertainment projects in the Middle East facing market and operational challenges. The park's cancellation reflected wider uncertainties in theme park development amidst Dubai’s diverse and rapidly evolving tourism sector.
