Deira Mall

Deira Mall, officially known as City Centre Deira, is one of Dubai's oldest and most iconic shopping malls, having opened its doors on November 28, 1995. Located in the historic Deira district, the mall sits strategically at the crossroads near Sharjah, Bur Dubai, and Dubai International Airport, making it highly accessible for residents and tourists alike.

Developed by the Majid Al Futtaim Group, it was the company’s first flagship mall project and represented a significant milestone in Dubai’s retail landscape, being the largest shopping mall in the region at the time with an initial investment of around AED 300 million.

City Centre Deira covers over 123,000 square meters of retail space spread across three levels, housing more than 370 stores that range from international brands to local boutiques.

It was also among the first malls in Dubai to host major international anchor tenants such as the European hypermarket Continent, South African store Woolworths, and the original IKEA in the UAE, which later relocated. The mall offers a diverse range of shopping, dining, and entertainment options, including a large food court, cinema complex, and the popular Magic Planet family entertainment center.

Over the years, Deira Mall has evolved to keep pace with Dubai’s rapid development. It has expanded its retail and leisure offerings to appeal to a wide demographic, boasting an annual footfall of over 22 million visitors.

The mall’s location near the Dubai Metro’s Deira City Centre station further enhances its accessibility. Beyond shopping, it serves as a cultural and social hub for the community, hosting events and activities that resonate with the city’s diverse population. Deira Mall remains a significant landmark in Dubai’s retail history, representing the city’s transition from traditional marketplaces to a modern global retail center.
