Gulf Indian High School

Gulf Indian High School (GIHS) is a private Indian curriculum school located in the Al Garhoud area of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Established in 1979 by Mr. John M. Thomas, the school began with just 200 students and 35 teachers and has since grown significantly, now educating over 2,000 students across Kindergarten to Grade 12.

The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in New Delhi, India, and follows the CBSE curriculum, preparing students for the All India Secondary School Examination (Grade 10) and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Grade 12). It divides education into primary, secondary, and senior secondary stages, with students in senior secondary able to choose from Science and Commerce streams.

Arabic is compulsory up to Grade 10, with English as the medium of instruction and options for second languages including Hindi, Urdu, French, Bengali, Malayalam, and Tamil. Islamic Education is mandatory for Muslim students, while Non-Muslim students study Moral Science.

The school promotes discipline, community involvement, and academic rigor, fostering responsible global citizens equipped for lifelong learning.
