Ahmad Mohammad Hasher Al Maktoum, born on December 31, 1963, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is a prominent Emirati sport shooter and member of the ruling Al Maktoum family.
He earned widespread recognition by winning the first-ever Olympic medal for the UAE, securing a gold medal in the double trap shooting event at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
In addition to this historic achievement, he finished fourth in the trap event at the same Olympics. Prior to his sporting career, he was active as a squash player, holding the national title from 1985 to 2000, and only began sport shooting in 1998, having grown up accompanying his father on falcon hunts from a young age.
He also won a gold medal at the 2005 ISSF World Cup in double trap. He competed again in the 2008 Beijing Olympics but did not reach the finals. Beyond his personal achievements, he contributed to the sport by coaching British shooter Peter Wilson, who won the double trap gold at the 2012 London Olympics.
As a respected sports figure, he represents both athletic excellence and the legacy of the Al Maktoum family in Dubai.
