Dana Gas

Dana Gas PJSC is a publicly traded natural gas company headquartered in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Established in December 2005 and listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, it is the largest privately owned natural gas company in the Middle East.

Dana Gas was founded with the mission to develop and operate natural gas assets across the Middle East North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) region, with significant operations in Egypt, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and the UAE. The company originated from an agreement to supply gas to the Northern Emirates, initially planning supply from Iran through Crescent Petroleum, its founding shareholder.

Dana Gas has expanded rapidly since its incorporation, acquiring international assets such as Calgary-based Centurion Energy in 2007, which held assets in Egypt and West Africa.

The company operates multiple gas fields and infrastructure, including 14 active fields in the Nile Delta, Egypt, and upstream and downstream assets in Iraqi Kurdistan via Pearl Petroleum, a consortium it jointly owns with Crescent Petroleum and European partners.

Its production portfolio is robust, with 2P reserves exceeding one billion barrels of oil equivalent and average daily production around 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent.

The company emphasizes sustainability and carbon reduction efforts, committing to lowering emissions and reducing flaring at its operational plants. Dana Gas is managed by a leadership team including Chairman Hamid Dhia Jafar and CEO Patrick Allman-Ward, focusing on financial discipline, operational efficiency, and value creation.

Despite challenges such as legal disputes related to gas supply agreements and fluctuating market conditions, Dana Gas continues to play a crucial role in the regional energy sector by expanding production, exploring new fields, and supporting energy transition efforts across its operational footprint.
