DSC Cricket Stadium

The Dubai International Cricket Stadium, also known as the Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium, is a prominent multi-purpose sports venue located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Established in 2009, it is part of the larger Dubai Sports City complex and is one of the three main cricket stadiums in the UAE alongside Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The stadium was designed by Canadian architect Awsam Matloob and features a seating capacity of 25,000, which can be expanded to accommodate up to 30,000 spectators.

The stadium is renowned for its distinctive "Ring of Fire" lighting system, consisting of 350 floodlights integrated into the roof around the stadium, which provides shadowless illumination for night matches, enhancing both player performance and viewer experience. It has been a key venue for international cricket, including serving as a neutral ground for the Pakistan cricket team during times when hosting matches in Pakistan was unfeasible.

The Dubai International Cricket Stadium hosted its inaugural One Day International (ODI) match between Australia and Pakistan on April 22, 2009, with Pakistan winning that match. It hosted its first Test match between Pakistan and South Africa in November 2010, which ended in a draw.

The venue has witnessed many notable cricket events, including matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2014 and 2020, and the Pakistan Super League (PSL), along with major international tournaments such as the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup where it hosted the semi-final and final matches. Furthermore, it was one of the venues for the ICC Champions Trophy Finals in 2025.

Over the years, the stadium has hosted over a dozen Test matches, dozens of ODIs, and numerous Twenty20 Internationals, cementing its reputation as a world-class cricket venue. The pitch conditions have notably improved in recent years, especially during the IPL 2020 tournament held there, which saw higher scoring games. Beyond cricket, the stadium has also been used for entertainment events, making it a versatile sports and cultural hub in Dubai.

The grounds are maintained by a dedicated curator, and its strategic location alongside other sports facilities in Dubai Sports City makes it a central part of the region's sporting infrastructure.

Dubai is a city that believes tomorrow can always be better than today.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
