Dubai Pearl was a large-scale mixed-use skyscraper project that was originally planned to be located along Al Sufouh Road in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The project, first announced in 2002, was designed to consist of four interconnected 73-storey towers with a total height of approximately 300 meters (984 feet), forming an iconic complex that would integrate residential, office, hospitality, retail, and leisure spaces.
The development was intended to cover a built-up area of approximately 1.9 million square meters and include a premier shopping mall, luxury fashion precinct, cinemas, and a state-of-the-art theater, aiming to accommodate around 9,000 residents and employ 12,000 people in its commercial sector.
However, despite its ambitious vision and several changes in ownership and investment attempts, the project faced prolonged delays and was stalled from 2006 onward due to financial and investor challenges. Demolition of the unfinished structures began in late 2022 and early 2023, officially marking the cancellation of the Dubai Pearl project after more than two decades of stalled development. The site has since come under new ownership with plans for redevelopment yet to be confirmed.
Dubai Pearl is remembered as a major project that symbolized both the ambitions and challenges of Dubai’s rapid urban expansion in the early 21st century.
