Dubai Towers, Tower 1, also referred to as Uptown Dubai Tower 1 or Burj 2020, is a megatall skyscraper currently under construction in the Jumeirah Lake Towers area of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The development was first announced by Dubai Multi Commodities Centre at Cityscape Global in 2015 and is designed by the acclaimed architectural firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the same team behind the Burj Khalifa and Jeddah Tower.
Dubai Towers, Tower 1 is planned to rise approximately 711 meters (2,333 feet) with over 160 floors, making it one of the tallest buildings in the world upon completion.
The tower is part of a larger development known as the Uptown Dubai District, which intends to include two iconic super-tall towers with mixed-use functions such as luxury residences, office spaces, retail outlets, and entertainment amenities.
Construction for Tower 1 is scheduled to start in October 2025 with an expected completion window between 2028 and 2030. The project aims to offer state-of-the-art living and working environments with panoramic views of Dubai’s skyline, supported by advanced engineering and sustainable building technologies.
It celebrates Dubai’s continued ambition to push architectural boundaries and expand its global reputation as a center for innovative mega-projects in real estate and urban development. The tower’s name, Burj 2020, was initially coined to commemorate Dubai’s successful bid to host Expo 2020, reflecting its significance as a landmark of modern urban growth.
