Emirates Global Aluminium

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) is a leading aluminium conglomerate based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with a heritage dating back to the 1970s.

It was officially formed in 2013 through the merger of Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL), the UAE’s first aluminium producer established in 1975, and Emirates Aluminium (EMAL), founded in 2007. The company's roots trace back to Dubai’s pioneering efforts in aluminium production, beginning with DUBAL’s first challenging start-up in 1979 at Jebel Ali, which marked a transformative moment for the UAE’s industrial sector.

Over the years, EGA has grown significantly, transforming the UAE into one of the world’s largest producers of aluminium, accounting for a substantial portion of the country’s industrial output.

EGA operates two primary smelters in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with a combined capacity of approximately 2.4 million tonnes per annum, making it one of the largest aluminium producers globally outside China.

The company also owns a strategic bauxite mine and alumina refinery project in Guinea, known as Guinea Alumina Corporation, as well as developing further alumina refining facilities in the UAE. EGA produces a wide range of high-quality aluminium products, including high purity and foundry re-melt products, rolled products, and billets for use in diverse sectors such as aerospace, automotive, construction, packaging, and transportation.

Its innovative practices have focused on improving efficiency, sustainability, and technological advancement, including licensing proprietary technologies to strengthen its industrial competitiveness.

As a state-owned enterprise, EGA is jointly controlled by Mubadala Investment Company of Abu Dhabi and the Investment Corporation of Dubai, making it the largest industrial company in the UAE outside of oil and gas.

With a global customer base spanning over 60 countries, EGA has consistently driven economic diversification efforts in the UAE, contributing significantly to the nation’s industrial growth and employment.

Throughout its history, EGA has emphasized innovation and sustainability, continually upgrading its production processes to remain competitive on a global scale.

It remains a symbol of the UAE’s industrial progress and strategic economic development, actively participating in industry initiatives and setting benchmarks for sustainability in the aluminium sector.
