Emirates Golf Club, established in 1988, is a landmark golfing venue located in Al Thanyah Third, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It holds the distinction of being the first all-grass championship golf course in the Middle East, a pioneering achievement that marked a significant shift from the sand courses that previously dominated the region.
The club was designed by American architect Karl Litten and was sponsored in its inception by visionary leaders including Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who sought to create a world-class golf destination that would attract global sporting interest and tourism to Dubai.
The club features two premier 18-hole championship golf courses: the Majlis Course, often hailed as "the desert miracle," recognized for its championship layout and scenic beauty; and the Faldo Course, designed by six-time major winner Sir Nick Faldo, which offers a challenging and unique golfing experience, including the region’s only 18-hole night golf course.
Both courses blend natural desert terrain with lush landscaping and strategically placed hazards, providing an exhilarating challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
Emirates Golf Club is renowned for hosting prestigious tournaments, most notably the annual Dubai Desert Classic on the European Tour (now DP World Tour), which has seen victories by legends such as Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Seve Ballesteros.
The club also hosts the Omega Dubai Ladies Classic, further cementing its status on the international golfing map. Its iconic clubhouse, designed to resemble traditional Bedouin tents, complements the natural desert setting and offers top-tier amenities including dining, fitness facilities, tennis courts, and a spa.
Over its history, Emirates Golf Club has played a transformative role in the development of golf in the Middle East, setting standards for sustainability, innovation, and ambition within the sport. It has contributed significantly to Dubai's emergence as a global sporting hub and luxury tourism destination.
The club is not only a sports venue but also a cultural landmark, symbolizing Dubai’s blend of tradition and modernity in a unique sporting and social setting.
Dubai will never settle for less than first place.
