Khalifa University

Khalifa University of Science and Technology, located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is a premier research-intensive institution specializing in science, engineering, and medicine.

The university traces its roots back to 1989 when Etisalat University College was established in Sharjah to develop skilled professionals in engineering and applied sciences. In 2000, the Petroleum Institute was founded to focus on oil and gas industry education and research, followed by the establishment of the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in 2007, which concentrated on advanced energy and sustainability technologies.

In 2007, Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR) was inaugurated to offer a broad range of engineering programs, and it integrated the Etisalat University College within its framework.

In 2017, a presidential decree by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan unified KUSTAR, Masdar Institute, and the Petroleum Institute into a single comprehensive university now known as Khalifa University of Science and Technology.

This merger created a multi-campus university with a strong emphasis on innovation, research, and education aligned with the UAE's national goals for a knowledge-based economy. Khalifa University offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs across various disciplines, including aerospace, artificial intelligence, robotics, healthcare, and advanced materials. It houses multiple research centers and offers state-of-the-art facilities to support cutting-edge research and learning.

The university is globally recognized for its academic excellence, ranking as the top university in the UAE and being highly ranked in the Arab region.
