Mai Abdel-Jabbar Hamdan Selim, commonly known as Mai Selim, was born on November 6, 1983, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. She is a Jordanian singer and actress of Palestinian and Lebanese descent, born to a Jordanian-Palestinian father and a Lebanese mother.
Although born in the UAE, she has spent most of her life in Egypt, where she developed her career in music and acting. She studied Business Administration at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport.
She began her music career in the early 2000s, singing primarily in the Egyptian dialect. She gained prominence with her 2008 album "Ehlawet El Ayam" ("The Days Became Sweeter"), which helped establish her as a popular figure in the Arabic pop music scene.
In addition to singing, she has acted in various films and television series, including a notable role in the 2010 film "The Dealer."
She has two sisters, Mais Hamdan, a comedian and actress, and Dana Hamdan. She was married to Egyptian businessman Ali al-Refai from 2010 to 2012, with whom she has a daughter named Lili.
