Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, born on November 24, 1983, is a prominent Emirati royal and politician currently serving as the Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance of the United Arab Emirates.

He is the third son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum. Educated in Dubai at Rashid School for Boys and the American University in Dubai, he holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

He has also attended advanced training programs at the Dubai School of Government and Harvard University, reflecting his preparation for high leadership roles.

Sheikh Maktoum was appointed Deputy Ruler of Dubai in February 2008 when his elder brother Sheikh Hamdan was named Crown Prince. He formerly served alongside his uncle Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum as Deputy Ruler until the latter's death in 2021, after which he was the sole Deputy Ruler until 2023 when his younger brother Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum was appointed as well.

In September 2021, Sheikh Maktoum was also appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of the UAE, further cementing his central role in the country’s governance and economic strategy.

Besides political duties, he chairs the Board of Directors for Dubai Media Incorporated and leads Dubai Knowledge Park. He also oversees Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (TECOM Investments) and has been instrumental in supervising financial markets and stock exchanges in Dubai.

In 2017, he was appointed Chairman of the Dubai Real Estate Corporation and subsequently became President of the Financial Audit Authority in 2018.
