Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum is a prominent member of Dubai's ruling family and a notable figure in the fields of business and sports. He is a second cousin once removed of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the current ruler of Dubai.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance with honors from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts. His professional career spans diverse sectors, including investments, sports, and media.
He is the Chairman of Dubai International Holding Company, a private investment firm with extensive involvement in natural resources, mining, and both traditional and renewable energy.
He has also played a key role in developing Dubai's retail landscape through his position as director of Shadar Holdings, which helped bring major international brands such as Virgin Megastores, Promod, Pull and Bear, and Bershka into the UAE market.
He was the founder, president, and chairman of the A1 Grand Prix racing series, an innovative international motorsport event. After successfully launching the series' first season, he sold his position in late 2006. He has been recognized globally, having been selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2007 and awarded "CEO of the Year" in the MENA property sector.
During Dubai’s financial crisis around 2010, he played a stabilizing role by purchasing Dubai bonds, which helped calm market fears prior to debt restructuring. In May 2011, he was appointed chairman of Shuaa Capital’s board of directors, where he leveraged his expertise in business turnarounds.
