Meraas Tower

Meraas Tower was a proposed supertall skyscraper planned to be constructed in the Jumeirah Garden City area of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The tower was designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture and was set to reach an architectural height of approximately 550 meters (1,804 feet) with 112 floors.

The design featured a series of faceted surfaces intended to optimize the building's exposure to natural light and air flow, while maximizing energy generation and offering panoramic 360-degree views of Dubai.

The building’s structure was visually striking, composed as if four smaller towers were stacked atop one another, with naturally lit sky gardens incorporated throughout the height of the tower to create green atrium spaces.

Meraas Tower was planned to include around 300,000 square meters of mixed-use space, encompassing hotel, convention, commercial, and retail areas, aiming to offer a comprehensive urban experience within one vertical structure.

Despite its ambitious design and planned role as one of Dubai’s tallest skyscrapers, the project was canceled in 2009 and never constructed. The tower remains an example of Dubai’s architectural vision and the city’s appetite for landmark developments, blending sustainability and innovation with luxury urban living.

Its cancellation reflects the challenges of economic and real estate conditions impacting large-scale projects in the region during that period.
