Mohammad Al Murr
Mohammad Al Murr, born in 1955 in Dubai, is a prominent Emirati writer, politician, and cultural figure. He is widely recognized as a short-story writer with over 15 published volumes, including notable collections such as Dubai Tales and The Wink of the Mona Lisa, both of which have been translated into English.
He graduated from Syracuse University in the United States and has been deeply involved in various cultural and academic institutions within the UAE. He served as the President of the Federal National Council from 2011 to 2015, a role in which he was highly regarded for his leadership and dedication to national dialogue and legislative development.
Throughout his career, he has been a driving force in promoting Emirati literature and culture. He has held the position of head of the Dubai Cultural Council, later reorganized as the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, and has played a significant role in fostering cultural initiatives across Dubai.
