One Dubai Tower A is a proposed skyscraper designed as part of the larger One Dubai project, planned to be situated in the Jumeirah Garden City development in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The tower was intended to be an architectural marvel with its height speculated to exceed 1,000 meters, potentially surpassing the Burj Khalifa to become the tallest building in Dubai and among the tallest in the world. The design was created by the architectural firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, known for their work on other iconic mega-structures.
One Dubai Tower A was planned as a mixed-use building, featuring residential units, hotel accommodations, commercial spaces, retail outlets, and entertainment facilities, all integrated within a futuristic design that envisioned glass skybridges connecting towers and grand arched entrances allowing boats to travel beneath the structure into a central atrium.
The complex aimed to create a vertical city that combined luxury living with innovative urban development.
The project was part of the ambitious Jumeirah Garden City master plan by developer Meraas but was cancelled around 2009 due to economic conditions and shifting priorities.
Despite the cancellation, One Dubai Tower A remains a symbol of Dubai’s visionary approach to architecture and urban planning, showcasing the city’s willingness to push the boundaries of design and engineering in its quest to host some of the world’s most impressive skyscrapers.
