Ras Al Khaimah Medical & Health Sciences University

Ras Al Khaimah Medical and Health Sciences University (RAKMHSU) is a government medical university located in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. It was established in 2006 by the Ras Al Khaimah Human Development Foundation (RAK-HDF) under the patronage and leadership of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and a member of the UAE Supreme Council.

The university began as the first comprehensive health science university in the UAE with a goal to provide high-quality medical education and contribute to healthcare development in the region. It started with just 22 students and has since grown substantially to have over 1,200 students from about 50 different nationalities, supported by a diverse faculty representing more than 30 countries.

RAKMHSU comprises four main colleges: the College of Medical Sciences, College of Dental Sciences, College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and College of Nursing. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and nursing, all of which are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation under the UAE Ministry of Education.

Its Doctor of Medicine (MD) program holds accreditation from the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), and its pharmacy program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in the United States. Various programs are also in the process of securing international accreditation, reflecting the university’s commitment to academic excellence and global standards.

The university emphasizes practical and clinical training alongside theoretical knowledge, supported by modern infrastructure such as multipurpose laboratories, a state-of-the-art library, and a dedicated dental sciences building with advanced clinical facilities.

It has consistently maintained an ideal student-teacher ratio and promotes a diverse and inclusive academic environment. RAKMHSU also offers specialized master's programs in nursing and pharmacy, contributing to advanced healthcare education in the UAE.

The university has fostered a transparent and professional administrative culture, aspiring to be a leading institution in health science education and research. Its graduates have successfully passed regional health authority exams and secured employment in hospitals and healthcare industries, underscoring its reputation for quality education and skill development in medical and health sciences.
