Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum was born on November 12, 1981, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He was the eldest son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE as well as the Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum.
He received his early education at the Rashid School for Boys in Dubai and later attended the prestigious Sandhurst Military Academy in the United Kingdom, graduating in 2002. He was appointed Crown Prince of Dubai but was replaced by his younger brother, Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, in 2008.
Throughout his life, he held key roles as a principal partner or owner in a variety of business ventures. These included the Noor Investment Group, Noor Bank, United Holdings Group Dubai, Zabeel Racing International, and the Dubai Holding Company, where he played an influential role in the emirate’s economic expansion.
He was known for his passion for horse racing and owned the racing team Zabeel Racing International.
Tragically, Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum died suddenly of a heart attack on September 19, 2015, at the age of 33.
