Salsali Private Museum

The Salsali Private Museum was a pioneering private museum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, dedicated to contemporary Middle Eastern and international art. Founded in November 2011 by Ramin Salsali, a passionate art collector and entrepreneur, it was located in the Alserkal Avenue district of Al Quoz, an industrial area known for its vibrant arts and cultural scene.

The museum was the first of its kind in the region, providing a unique platform for showcasing over 900 pieces from Salsali's extensive personal collection, including paintings, photography, video art, sculptures, and installations. It also hosted exhibitions from guest collectors and international traveling exhibits, fostering cultural dialogue and artistic exchange.

SPM aimed to create an inclusive space where artists, collectors, and the public could connect, share, and appreciate contemporary art, particularly highlighting works by Middle Eastern artists alongside global figures.

The museum's philosophy centered on accessibility and simplicity, seeking to break down barriers for art lovers and promote the culture of art collecting in the UAE. By doing so, it contributed significantly to the growth and diversification of Dubai’s art scene, attracting local and international visitors and helping establish the city as a hub for contemporary art.

Despite its impactful presence, the Salsali Private Museum permanently closed in March 2019. Nevertheless, its influence remains notable in Dubai’s artistic community, remembered for its role in elevating contemporary art and supporting emerging and established artists from the region.

The museum's legacy endures as a symbol of Ramin Salsali’s dedication to art patronage and cultural development in the Middle East.
