University of Dubai

The University of Dubai was established in 1997 by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the vision to serve the business community of Dubai and the UAE by delivering high-quality educational programs focused on human capital development.

It was initially recognized as Dubai Polytechnic College before becoming Dubai University College in 2001 when the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research licensed its Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Systems programs.

The institution officially adopted the name University of Dubai in 2006. The university comprises three main colleges: the Dubai Business School, the College of Engineering and Information Technology, and the College of Law.

The Dubai Business School offers accredited bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs, with all business programs holding the prestigious AACSB accreditation, a gold standard in management education worldwide.

The College of Engineering and Information Technology provides various science and engineering programs, including electrical engineering and computing, with ABET accreditation for computing programs. Meanwhile, the College of Law offers specialized master's programs in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution, as well as Financial Crimes and Money Laundering, and recently added a Bachelor of Law degree in collaboration with the University of London.

The university also emphasizes lifelong learning through its Center for Executive Development, which offers professional development certificates, diplomas, and customized training.

In June 2006, the university was granted a large plot in Academic City by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to build its new campus, aligning with Dubai's Vision 2020 to advance educational infrastructure.

The University of Dubai is recognized for producing highly qualified graduates suited for industry needs and for its strategic initiatives in enhancing pedagogical capabilities and benchmarking curricula with international standards. It maintains a student-centered focus, supporting career development and serving as a vital academic institution in Dubai's educational landscape.

Dubai proves that deserts can become destinations.
