University of West London, Ras Al Khaimah campus

The University of West London (UWL) Ras Al Khaimah campus was established in 2017 as a British university branch campus located in the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), United Arab Emirates.

It started with a modest cohort of just 13 students and has since grown to enroll more than 1,100 students with a diverse population drawn not only from Ras Al Khaimah but also from neighboring emirates including Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman. The campus offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs primarily in business, finance, accounting, and computing fields such as computer science, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.

UWL RAK emphasizes providing high-quality British education at a more accessible cost than studying in the UK, attracting school leavers, working professionals, and expatriates seeking internationally recognized degrees with a local presence.

In 2020, the campus moved to a new, purpose-built facility in the RAKEZ Academic Zone, significantly expanding its infrastructure with modern classrooms, labs, and student services to enhance the academic environment.

This upgrade coincided with the broadening of its academic portfolio to include new technology-focused programs aligning with both global trends and regional market needs. The campus maintains robust quality assurance and academic standards through continuous collaboration and monitoring by the main campus in London, including regular visits by senior university leadership.

UWL RAK underwent a thorough review by the UK Quality Assurance Agency, which confirmed its adherence to international standards and awarded it a Diamond Rating in governance and compliance.

In 2024, the campus officially came under the regulatory authority of the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge, integrating it further into the emirate’s higher education framework and ensuring alignment with local educational goals.

UWL RAK has been recognized for setting new benchmarks in higher education within the emirate and has played a major role in positioning Ras Al Khaimah as a credible and growing hub for quality tertiary education in the UAE. The campus’s success is attributed to its strong community engagement, dedicated faculty, personalized learning environment, and the combination of British academic excellence with a deep understanding of local student needs.
