Yas Island

Yas Island is a man-made leisure and entertainment destination located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, covering an area of approximately 25 square kilometers. Named after the Arabian Bani Yas tribe, the island was developed with the vision of transforming a once barren desert island into one of the world’s premier tourist and recreational hubs.

The development of Yas Island was initiated in 2006 as part of Abu Dhabi's economic diversification strategy and officially opened to visitors in stages beginning in late 2009 and early 2010.

The island features a wide array of world-class attractions, including the Yas Marina Circuit—a Formula One-grade racing track that has hosted the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since 2009. Yas Island is also home to Ferrari World, the world’s largest indoor theme park, Yas Waterworld, the largest water park in Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros.

World Abu Dhabi, and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, making it a magnet for thrill-seekers and families alike. Apart from entertainment venues, Yas Island hosts luxury hotels, residential communities, retail outlets such as Yas Mall, golf courses, and extensive waterfront dining and leisure areas.

The island is connected to the mainland by the Yas Tunnel Road and is located just minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Managed and developed by Miral and Aldar Properties, Yas Island continues to grow with ongoing infrastructure projects and residential developments aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and solidifying its position as a leading tourism destination in the Middle East.

It recorded over 38 million visits in 2024, showcasing its rapid rise as a global leisure and lifestyle hub blending entertainment, culture, shopping, and sporting excellence.
